OTHER TYPES OF MASSAGES:
Aromatherapy massage: This is a full body massage while inhaling essential oils or absorbing them through your skin. This is best for people who want an element of mental healing in their treatment. Do not use this type of massage if you’re sensitive to essential oils or smells.
Cupping: This is a good method for short-term pain relief or for increasing blood flow.
Acupressure: This is a form of trigger point massage therapy and is good for alleviating severe muscle tightness.
Post natal massage: this massage happens just after you’ve given birth. It gives both mental and physical relief to mothers and can also help with faster healing and increased milk production.
Shiatsu Massage: Pulsing or rhythmic pressure is used in this type of massage. It’s a Japanese style of therapy and promotes the emotional and physical relaxation of the person. This is good for someone looking for a relaxing massage.
Trigger point therapy: This type of therapy focuses on relieving trigger points and can help to reduce or manage chronic pain.
Reflexology: This is good for people who are uncomfortable with a full-body massage as it focuses on pressure points in the feet, hands and ears. Light or firm pressure is applied depending on the different pressure points.
Chair Massage: This is a good option if you are new to massage. You will remain fully clothed and will straddle a chair so the therapist has access to your back.
Craniosacral massage: this type of therapy is one where you lay, fully clothed, on a massage table, while the massage therapist finds trigger points to release tension in the body. Focus is usually on the head, torso, knees and feet. It helps alleviate chronic main, headaches, fatigue, post traumatic stress disorder and post surgical recovery.
Reiki: this is a form of energy healing touch where hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body so that the natural healing vibrations are transmitted from the Reiki practitioner to the client.
Thai massage: This type of massage involves stretching your body in addition to providing massage. It helps to improve flexibility, circulation and energy levels. Thai massages involve firm pressure to your body and you will also be stretched and twisted into various positions. In this type of massage, you will remain fully clothed.
Infant massage: Infant massages are a great way for parents to bond with their newborn. It can help soothe your baby and aid in their sleep. Other benefits include aiding digestion, improving circulation and easing teething pain. The emphasis is on calming and soothing the child.
Foot massage: Your feet can benefit from regular massages as well. Foot massages help improve circulation, reduce tension and stimulate muscles.
